In the early hours of June 21, 1929, the original Long View Lodge building burned. 

The determined Emerson family went to Warrensburg, found a builder with a crew of mainly French Canadian workers, and procured a loan at the Emerson National Bank.

The crew worked tirelessly to have a new and improved Long View Lodge which opened in the fall of 1929.
